Scott M. Heyman, CPA, CFP® has been promoted to Director. Scott joined the firm in 2012 and brings extensive expertise in accounting, income tax preparation and strategic tax planning for both businesses and individuals. His experience includes corporate, partnership and fiduciary tax return preparation; multi-state tax filings; IRS and state audit representation; business formation; and real estate planning. Scott serves clients across a wide range of industries, including construction and real estate, medical practices and healthcare, manufacturing, trucking and transportation, and professional services. As a Certified Financial Planner, Scott provides a holistic perspective – integrating tax strategies seamlessly into his clients’ broader financial goals. A graduate of Le Moyne College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Scott is also deeply involved in his community. He serves on the board of Advocates, Inc. and is the chair of its Finance and Audit/Investment Committee, and on the board and Finance Committee of Building Men.
Tanya Hilbert, CA has been promoted to Director. Tanya joined the firm in 2012 and brings over 30 years of accounting experience. A Chartered Accountant, qualified from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Tanya is also a member of the Global Accounting Alliance, an International Associate of the New York State Society of CPAs, and a member of the AICPA. Tanya specializes in audit and attest engagements, financial statement preparation, internal control reviews, and special agreed-upon procedures. Her diverse client base spans affordable housing, manufacturing, retail, and both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. She is a graduate of Monash University where she earned an Honors Bachelor of Economics Degree.
Carrie B. Tankersley, CPA has been promoted to Senior Manager. Carrie joined the firm in 2009 and has built extensive experience in individual, partnership and corporate tax preparation, as well as strategic tax planning for both individuals and businesses. Her experience also includes bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and payroll and sales tax compliance across a range of industries, including real estate partnerships and retail distribution. Carrie is a graduate of Hartwick College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Maria C. Gersbacher, CPA has been promoted to Manager. Maria joined the firm in 2023, bringing with her over 25 years of experience in both public and private accounting. She practices in the areas of individual, corporate, and partnership taxation; bookkeeping; financial statement preparation; and employee benefit plan audits. Her diverse client base includes real estate, nonprofit organizations, retail, and small businesses. Maria earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with a minor in Management Information Systems from Le Moyne College, Madden School of Business.
Mitchell R. Schreiber, CPA, has been promoted to Supervisor. Mitch joined the firm full-time in 2023 after completing an internship with us in 2022. He practices in the areas of tax return preparation for individuals, corporations, and partnerships, as well as financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, and sales tax return compliance. Mitch earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from SUNY Oswego, and holds a Master of Science in Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Minor in Business Administration from St. John Fisher College.
