I happened to find Grossman St. Amour by chance while job searching online one day, and I submitted my application without an expectation of hearing back. I was contacted for an interview not long after I first reached out and the process was made very clear for what was expected of me as a candidate. From the first interview alone I could tell this was a workplace that saw me as an individual with value and that they were willing to invest in me.
18 months later, I still feel the same way that I did during the interview process. My role allows me a lot of flexibility in choosing what things I’d like to tackle, and the firm is great about helping some of those things come to fruition. I’ve learned so much in my time here already because I’ve been able to take things head on when I’ve wanted. It’s rare to find an employer that trusts their people as much as GSA does. My role also allows for a bit of flexibility when I have to deal with things outside of work, and I feel that my work life balance is very good here.
It’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside people who are open to feedback and suggestions. Accounting and information technology have a lot of things that go hand in hand, so getting the accounting perspective on day-to-day matters has been quite helpful! Employees get to openly voice suggestions and opinions for how things are done operationally which is something I also value. It’s great to be part of a team that takes things seriously and stands by the high quality of work that they’re able to do.
Elyjah M. Pengel, IT Support Specialist
I was hired as a graduate of Le Moyne College in 2007 and have been working for Grossman St. Amour CPAs ever since.
Grossman St. Amour CPAs provides a great work environment. They treat their staff very well, and management’s emphasis on employees maintaining a healthy work/life balance suits my personality and lifestyle extremely well. They really have allowed me to take on as much complicated and high level work as I can handle. I haven’t had one boring day in my first eleven years at the firm and don’t see myself becoming bored anytime soon!
I would recommend this firm to anyone who enjoys an open team-style environment, and is motivated to work hard and advance as a professional. Any candidate who believes they can have a challenging work life balanced with a fulfilling personal life, would enjoy a career with Grossman St. Amour CPAs.
Daniel F. Griffin, CPA, CVA, Partner
I joined the Grossman St. Amour CPAs team as an intern in the summer of 2011, and then full time in the summer of 2012 after graduating from Le Moyne College. The welcoming environment and first hand training and experience I received during my internship were driving factors in my decision to choose Grossman St. Amour CPAs to begin my full time career in accounting. From the very beginning of my internship, I was treated as part of the team and constantly given goals and challenges to help further me both professionally and intellectually.
From my very first week as an intern, I was given the opportunity to be out in the field interacting with clients and gaining real world experience, which was invaluable in helping prepare me for my career and also in passing the CPA exam. Everyone at Grossman St. Amour CPAs was patient, helpful and willing to answer any question to help me learn and ultimately decide if public accounting was the right fit for me.
Since joining Grossman St. Amour CPAs full time, I have not only gained a rewarding career that challenges me daily, but I am also lucky enough to do this in a supportive work environment among my peers. I can’t express how thankful I am for the opportunities Grossman St. Amour CPAs has provided me and greatly look forward to the experiences that lie ahead.
Jaimie P. Galante, CPA, Senior Manager
The very first time I interned at Grossman St. Amour CPAs, I was going into my senior year of high school and I was planning to major in Biology. After one summer of working at the firm, I quickly realized I loved working in an office environment and working with the people at GSA in particular. I loved the small firm culture and immediately felt like part of the team, so I instead decided to pursue a career in accounting.
I knew from the first summer I worked here that this was where I wanted to be once I graduated from Syracuse University. I returned to intern for the firm over the next 3 summers and during my winter breaks at school as well. I completed my first tax season internship at Grossman St. Amour CPAs in the spring of 2016 before finally starting full-time in the fall of the same year.
My goal from this point forward is to take advantage of all of the opportunities that Grossman St. Amour CPAs has to offer. I look forward to advancing myself within the firm, both professionally and intellectually. I’m excited to further develop my relationships with the other members of the Grossman team, most of whom are the same familiar faces that I recognize from the very first summer that I interned here. I aspire to be an asset to the firm and provide as much value to Grossman St. Amour CPAs as this company continues to give me daily.
