New this year, as an additional verification to deter fraud, New York State now requires that resident and nonresident taxpayers provide driver’s license or state issued identification information as part of the e-filing process for a personal income tax return or extension. In order to comply with the regulations, taxpayer and spouse will need to provide us with the following information:

• Driver license or ID number
• Issuing state
• Issue date
• Expiration date; and
• Document number (located in lower right hand corner OR on the back of the ID – NYS issued licenses and IDs only)
